Over the next few years, we are expanding our restaurant + market footprint, as well as our digital penetration – to meet customers where they are. Aside from improving our customers’ and communities’ relationship with food, we are also changing the way they interact with the restaurants.

Online + app ordering revenue is increasing at a rate of ~50% year over year. Additionally, 44% of in-store payments were processed through the sweetgreen app in 2018. This is an incredible opportunity to join the company as we expand into new markets and new avenues of product delivery. Now is the time to accelerate sweetgreen’s growth, and in the process, radically transform the fast-casual restaurant industry. 


Summary: At sweetgreen an Engineer is responsible for building, testing, debugging/troubleshooting, clean/compliant software for web applications. They share responsibilities regarding frontend architecture and service connectivity with their peers and Senior Engineers. As a strong team player, engineers will participate in design and code reviews in support of maintain high standards relating to quality, experience, and accessibility. It is expected that an Engineer will frequently collaborate with the design, product, and customer experience teams to build out impactful solutions across all of our digital properties.

Development: Supports full stack (e.g., front end) development of key features in sweetgreen's products by understanding + translating project requirements, using DRY, SOLID + YAGNI code design principles to write, review + test code, and troubleshooting open issues + bug-fixes.

 

Prioritization: Supports multiple stories at once and prioritizes simultaneously to meet critical deadlines.

 

AGILE Methodology: Participates in AGILE teams supporting company objectives + key results (OKRs).

 

Minimum Qualifications for Successful Performance:

  • Experience with HTML, Javascript, and CSS.
  • Strong understanding of best practices relating to frontend architecture
  • A strong desire to experiment with bleeding edge technology and understand relating market trends.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and creative skills.
  • Strong time management.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years developing web technology initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience with AGILE methodology.
  • Experience with React and Ember.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience deploying website A/B testing or personalization
