If you’ve previously shipped hardware and dare to dream big, Kernel can meet your ambitions. We’re looking for an experienced electronics test development engineer who has brought hardware to market. The test engineering team develops the complete test platforms that are used to ensure we manufacture high quality products that exceed our customers expectations. Successful applicants will design, develop, test, and deploy test stations for our production electronics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with design engineers to understand critical circuits and design appropriate tests for coverage
  • Develop automation software between test equipment, sensor systems, and data acquisition computers
  • Implement FCT and ICT and provide requirements to vendors for production testing
  • Write analysis software for processing data and summarizing key results
  • Support engineering test execution and new design bring-up
  • Maintain codebase in version control system

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience
  • Prior knowledge of specifying and executing manufacturing tests for electronics in volume production
  • Proficient in scripting languages like Python
  • Experience developing automated test routines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to summarize large data sets

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with optical systems and performing optical characterization
  • Familiarity with bus protocols like I2C, SPI, UART
  • Ability to program low-level firmware code for custom test routines

This position will require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
