1. Overview

Romeo Power Technology is looking for a highly motivated, Electrical Systems Test Engineer to join our growing team in the Los Angeles, CA area. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, this person will support the verification and validation testing of complete battery modules and packs, and their electrical sub-systems, and components in development.

This is a hands-on position with plenty of responsibility for the successful delivery of leading-edge energy storage solutions in the Electric Vehicle, Consumer, and Industrial markets. The environment is fast-paced and requires the application of critical thinking in demanding situations.

2. Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and validate electrical system performance through testing
• Analyze project requirements and define the required electrical systems verification testing to ensure compliance
• Develop and maintain electrical subsystem test validation & verification plans and procedures
• Create test procedures and write test reports per industry best practices to document system test and results
• Support system design activities by advising design engineers on Design For Test (DFT).
• Operate within a cross functional team, understand the needs and requirements of internal stakeholders in addition to our external customers
• Support development of production test fixtures for ICT, FCT, and EOL
• Develop in process test procedures, analyze data and make recommendations for changes required in design or manufacturing processes.
• Support industry compliance and certification efforts through rigorous testing either directly or indirectly through external test facilities
• Act as a liaison with Systems Engineering in developing validation tests, test specifications, or in-line test equipment
• Provide support to Manufacturing Engineering to ensure a smooth transition from engineering to production

3. Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 3-5 years of experience with electrical systems test planning, development, and execution
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering disciplines, particularly Electrical Systems Test
• Must have knowledge of requirements verification and validation methods
• Electrical system integration experience with knowledge of:
  1. firmware development
  2. digital and analog circuit design and PCB layout
  3. wire harness design
  4. high voltage DC systems
  5. UL, NEC, IEC, etc. code compliance
• Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and multi-tasking capability
• Working knowledge of Li-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems

4. Preferred Skills

• MS in Electrical Engineering preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical systems test planning, development and execution with Li-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems
• Experience in leading and mentoring peers and leading projects to successful completion
• Hands-on experience in electromechanical system assemblies, PCB assembly, wire harness fabrication, including troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and mechanical systems
