1. Position Overview

Romeo Power Technology is looking for a highly motivated, Electrical Systems Test Engineer to join our growing team in the Los Angeles, CA area. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, this person will support the integration, and testing of battery modules and packs, electronic assemblies, harnesses, PCBA’s, and components in development.

This is a hands-on position with plenty of responsibility for the successful delivery of leading-edge energy storage solutions in the Electric Vehicle, Consumer, and Industrial markets. The environment is fast-paced and requires the application of critical thinking in demanding situations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Verify and validate system performance through testing.
  2. Support defining and allocating system, firmware, hardware, test requirements and verification methods.
  3. Develop and maintain subsystem test validation & verification plans and procedures.
  4. Create test procedures and write test reports per industry best practices to document system test and results.
  5. Support system design activities by advising design engineers on Design For Test (DFT) for systems.
  6. Operate within a cross functional team, understand the needs and requirements of internal stakeholders in addition to our external customers
  7. Analyze engineering requirements to ensure compliance, and determine the impact of changes to requirements
  8. Analyze test logs and identify issues
  9. Own system bring up during engineering phase
  10. Develop in process test procedures, analyze data and make recommendations for changes required in manufacturing processes, data management
  11. Support compliance and certification efforts through rigorous testing
  12. Act as a liaison with engineering in developing validation tests, test specifications, and in-line test equipment
  13. Provide support to manufacturing team ensuring a smooth transition from engineering to production

Basic Qualifications

  1. BS in electrical engineering or related discipline (CS, EE). MS preferred
  2. 3-5 years of experience with a wide ranging electromechanical background in the automotive or mechatronic industry is highly desirable
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of engineering disciplines, particularly Electrical Systems Test
  4. Must have knowledge of requirements verification and validation methods
  5. Electrical system integration experience with knowledge of,
  6. wire harness design
  7. high voltage DC systems
  8. UL, NEC, IEC, etc. code compliance
  9. Knowledge of MATLAB , Smilulink and Simscape
  10. Scripting knowledge in python, CAPL
  11. CAN bus knowledge and associated tools like PAN, CANAlyzer
  12. Proven skills for data analysis and debugging
  13. Knack to identify system level issues and pinpoint the problem
  14. Provide feedback to firmware and hardware team
  15. Excellent trouble shooting skills
  16. Working knowledge of Li-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems a plus
  17. Hands-on experience in electromechanical system assemblies, PCB assembly, wire harness fabrication, including troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and mechanical systems
  18. Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and multi-tasking capability
