Job Description
The Director of Network Automation and Reliability Engineering candidate will be an experienced people and technical leader responsible for driving improvements in deploying, managing, and monitoring NBC's network infrastructure globally. The candidate will provide strategic leadership around the principle that "Automation must be embedded in the network build process and Reliability must be managed across the infrastructure with an understanding of dependencies." The candidate will have ownership of:

  • Managing a team of software centric network engineers that develop automation scripts to streamline network deployments across NBC's global production and corporate infrastructure.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the reliability of NBC's network infrastructure. Utilize commercial and open-source toolsets to ingest, correlate, and alert on network issues; develop network capacity planning estimates to ensure the network is not limited by bottlenecks.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ overall years of experience with network architecture, engineering, and operations with 4+ years as a manager of direct reports.
  • Strong leader who can drive improvements in network infrastructure reliability by leading teams through "Infrastructure as Code" and AIOps initiatives.
  • Ability to do technical deep dives into network infrastructure, operational toolsets, and code who can hold their own in technical conversations with leaders across the organization.
  • Mentor, manage, and motivate a team of high-performing engineers to develop a framework for network automation and operational insight that will allow NBC to deploy networks at scale.


Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading teams through version control and deployment pipeline methods using GitHub.
  • 3+ years using Ansible, Terraform, and Python to deploy network configurations on routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols including MPLS, OSPF, BGP, NetFlow, etc.
  • Broad experience with commercial and open-source network operational toolsets.
