How you will contribute:

  • Hire, build, develop and grow a high performing backend engineering team
  • Own a universal API for exchanging data around appointments, patients, and scheduling to power data for PatientPop’s products
  • Build and maintain connections to third party systems and make it available through PatientPop’s integration platform
  • Build and maintain APIs that interact with PatientPop’s installable windows desktop application
  • Event driven systems, microservices, API orchestration, routing, and choreography
  • Member of the core group of engineering leaders throughout the organization
  • Inspire, champion and teach when the need arises
  • Demonstrate a mix of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, verbal agility, and diplomacy which allows you to rapidly earn the trust of engineers and product management leaders
  • Help us achieve and maintain maximum potential in areas of scale, security, fiscal efficiency, and fault tolerance.
  • Own the delivery of OKRs, work with the product team to define KPIs and meet SLAs

Skills you’ll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • 7+ years of experience in technical management
  • 4+ years of experience managing other technical managers
  • Technical maturity roadmap evangelization and management
  • Architecture visionary and best practice steward. Lead by example building proof of concepts
  • Experience in integrating with third party systems using a variety of techniques (HL7, FHIR, APIs, webhooks or web based data extraction) and methodologies to maintain data integrity
  • Experience in integrating with EMRs/practice management systems and handling PHI is a plus
  • Experience in evaluation of vendors and partners to accelerate roadmap delivery 
  • Experience with using ORM frameworks 
  • Experience with event-driven technologies (Kafka, kinesis, SQS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with relational (MySQL, Postgres) and nonrelational databases (Dynamo, Cassandra, Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with microservices and scalable object-oriented RESTFUL web services using choreography patterns
  • Must have an understanding of distributed design patterns using cloud-based systems 
  • Leader of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile processes
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, capacity to mentor and measure performance of team members of all levels
  • Leadership ability, excellent written and verbal English skills.

  • You are able to work well with other leaders in the company
