Dev Ops Engineer
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to work with our data science & engineering team at tronc. The team’s mission is to build data and machine learning solutions to serve the broad set of digital properties owned by tronc including brands like the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, New York Daily News, Baltimore Sun, and 150 other publications with around 65 million unique visitors every month.
As a DevOps Engineer at tronc, you’ll spend your time helping us scale up and make our core infrastructure more robust. This infrastructure in the data science & engineering group is used for data processing, analytics and business intelligence, machine learning algorithms, and data-driven products that serve our entire organization.
Responsibilities:
- Build automation systems to help us operate more quickly and cost-effectively
- Ensure monitoring and alerting exists throughout the platform
- Ensure best practices are followed for system configuration and security
- Develop solutions for rapidly scaling, deploying, migrating, and recovering services
- Develop high availability infrastructure designs and configuration
Desired Skills:
- Production experience with Docker
- Experience with relational databases
- Proficient with unix tools (sed, awk, systemd)
- Production experience with ansible, salt stack, chef, puppet or similar
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, Kinesis
Nice to Haves:
Familiarity with any of the following:
- Mesos, DC/OS, Zookeeper
- Cassandra / Scylla
- Redshift
- Redis, Memcached
- Terraform
- Experience with Google Cloud
