Responsibilities & Goals:

  • Define, implement and manage commodities and supplier strategies (including lead cross-functional teams to develop strategies)
  • Communicate supplier performance and recommend commodity strategies to senior management
  • Evaluate suitability and stability of current and potential suppliers regarding financial health, staffing, quality, throughput, technical capability, and reputation
  • Insure materials availability to insure supply/demand matching for assigned commodity; conduct program reviews with key suppliers to ensure support of short-term and long-term business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing supplier relationships, obtain price/cost reductions, rationalize/consolidate the supply base, secure favorable long-term agreements, maintain alternate supplier options, and support long-term supplier relationships
  • Lead negotiations for complex contracts and Master Supply Agreements
  • Lead suppliers through resolving discrepancies, including corrective and preventive actions and recovery plans
  • Insure excellence in supplier management activities owned by Buyer(s) including:
  • Manage sourcing of suppliers and commodities across multiple internal projects and functional groups
  • Provide supplier surveillance required to support project schedules and manage at-risk suppliers
  • Support supplier development and qualification including supplier assessments, improvement plans, and qualifications (including on-site quality audits with SQE)
  • Support the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance requirements on behalf of the company with suppliers
  • Participate in use and improvement of databases to capture supplier status, history, criticality, and known issues

Success Indicators:

  • Supplier base has been developed that allows Canoo to reach its production goals
  • Supplier performance is closing monitored and proper corrective actions taken
  • Favorable supply agreements are in place that drive costs down

Qualifications/Experience:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience ; Experience in sourcing would be ideal (ideally for both development and production environments)
  • Experience negotiating different types of contracting vehicles such as Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Statement of Work (SOW), Long Term Agreements (LTA) and Master Supply Agreement (MSA)
  • Demonstrated competence in cost reduction and process improvement
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and independently
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field - Master’s degree preferred
