Team Overview: 

In this role you will be working with the team to build our material handling design capability at Heliogen. You will be working within the Thermal Systems team and collaborate with several other teams within the Engineering organization to successfully deliver on innovative, next generation clean energy projects. 

We are seeking a highly motivated team player to join our high performing multidisciplinary team of engineers. It is expected that you will provide leadership in the subject matter to shape the future of clean energy, through developing innovative bulk material handling system for high temperature particles. 

You Aspire To: 

• Innovate, design and develop near term and long-term solutions for bulk material handling of particles at high temperature 
• Develop design tools and standards to streamline the material handling system design work 
• Maintain subject matter expertise within the organization and provide technical leadership 
• Use several design tools e.g. Solidworks, E3D etc. to develop 3D designs and layouts for high temperature bulk material handling systems 
• Collaborate with fabrication and testing team to develop and test out new concepts / designs 
• Deliver hardware to site on time within budget 
• Provide on field support for construction, startup and commissioning for the bulk material handling system 

What's Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field
• Strong experience (5+ yrs) in bulk material handling and complex machine design experience 
• Experienced in delivering small – medium sized projects from conceptualization through commissioning 
• Expert knowledge of standards and practices related to material handling systems  
• Experience with 3D design tools (ideally Solidworks and E3D)

Desirable Experience:

• Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field
• Stress analysis of components using analytical and numerical methods 
• Expertise in 3D design tools – ideally Solidworks and E3D 
• Extensive experience (7+ yrs) in bulk material handling and complex machine design 
• Experience (3+ yrs) high temperature, dry and abrasive particle handling system design 
• Demonstrated evidence of developing innovative designs and contributing to the generation of Intellectual property for the organization 
• Experience in developing internal design standards and processes 
• Experience in providing mentorship to junior engineers to foster talent 
• Excels in hyper growth environments including interviewing and helping build the team
