Position: Additive Manufacturing Systems Manager 

Divergent is seeking and experienced and motivated engineer to support the repair and advancement of printers produced with our partner SLM Solutions. We’re committed to establishing a new industrial standard of automotive manufacturing. To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer / manager who will help shape the future of Additive Manufacturing and its automation. 

What You’ll Do:

•Develop and perform AM system level tests and calibrations

•Develop innovate solutions to any current AM equipment limitations

•Repair 3D printers as needed, ensuring maximum printer up-time.

•Work with our AM printer supplier / partner to develop better processes and systems

•Develop operation processes and procedures that will be implemented in our 3D printing enable factory of the future

•Support and refine AM equipment and operations

•Perform modifications to existing AM machines that further their performance in reliability, repeatability, and production rates

•Lead and work with systems engineers developing AM supporting equipment

•Provide leadership for AM machine operators at Divergent in setting up and executing builds

•Work with Structural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineers and testing teams to develop business capabilities, technical strategies, implementation strategies and architectures.

•20% travel 

Who You Are:

•Passionate about AM Direct Metal Laser Sintering machines

•Fluent in written and spoken German

•Competent CAD / CAM capability (Solidworks, NX, or similar)

•Hands on experience with system design and performance tuning

•Experienced in designing with competence in both electrical and mechanical systems

•Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced, start-up environment

•Familiarity with data acquisition systems, sensor feedback, and controls

•Solid interpersonal skills – ability to successfully develop and manage a small team and interfacing with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints

•Previous programming or scripting experience (C, Assembly, Matlab, Pascal or similar)

•Product development and integration experience

•Operations of CNC machines and understanding of G-Code

•Possess BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or equivalent, Master's degree is a plus
