The Role


Job Summary & Responsibilities:

The Senior Motion Graphic Designer (full-time, salaried, regular) will provide design and produce motion-graphics, and miscellaneous collateral design materials for the Motor Trend Creative Services Department. Work consists of creation, layout, and execution of motion graphics for marketing promos, social videos, motion graphics packages and related content. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:


  • Design and build high-level broadcast quality motion graphics for promos, social marketing videos, presentations, interactive content and more.
  • Have a solid understanding of visual storytelling structure and how motion-graphics effectively integrate into that structure.
  • Have the ability to solve complex design challenges and develop creative visual solutions to those challenges.
  • Able to work independently and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Work with art and creative editorial teams to understand project scope and design objectives.
  • Work with editors, producers and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues.
  • Research and analyze best design techniques and solutions to create motion graphics.
  • Assist in designing and creating storyboards.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to share new design perspectives and ideas.
  • Maintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about latest graphic design techniques.
  • Log and track current projects as performed; keep supervisor and Project Manager informed of projects’ status, including software/hardware issues.
  • Keep project jobs (job ticket, reference materials and proofing) and digital files organized for ease of use and efficiency; file when completed.
  • Assist other designers and Art Director as needed; share design ideas with other team members.



Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position will include supervising one or more employees where applicable.


Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years motion-graphic design experience in streaming, digital or TV marketing and promotion, preferably at a broadcast or cable network, major studio or creative agency.
  • Must be extremely proficient with Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects and be able to design and animate quickly in both 2D and 3D.
  • Exceptional creative design background, with highly developed conceptual and animation skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree in Design and/or Animation or equivalent design experience.
  • Must have a versatile design background and a great video demo reel that showcases a wide range of creative styles.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proven leadership, organizational and mentoring skills
  • Student of marketing/advertising/design
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proven oral and written communications skills, including knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be self-motivated, possess strong initiative, and resourcefulness
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Proven interpersonal skills


Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen.


Equipment/Software Used:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe After Effects, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Cinema 4D



Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
