Product Design Director

| Santa Monica

We are looking for a Product Design Director who will have an impact on the entire product design life cycle, from proposing initial ideas to ensuring high quality, pixel perfect releases. This role will be a mix of consultation and hands-on design. The Product Design Director must be an excellent and persuasive communicator, capable of dealing with a wide variety of internal and external partners. This position requires deep experience with hands-on product development and an understanding of the mobile industry. They must be comfortable with all degrees of ownership, from personally designing areas to providing high-level feedback to development and design teams. The Product Design Director must thrive in a challenging and ambiguous environment and be able to approach problems in a creative and flexible manner.

 

In this role you will:

  • Design easy-to-use and intuitive product experiences 

  • Interpret qualitative and quantitative data and iterate on design elements based on findings
  • Contribute to all stages of the design process from user research to wireframes and shipping the product
  • Work with engineers closely to ensure your designs are built as spec’d 

  • Define user specifications, flows, and interaction models 

  • Help define the short and long-term roadmap for your product area 

  • Regularly give and receive feedback on design iterations

 

We are looking for:

  • 5+ years experience designing and shipping mobile applications 

  • Demonstrated ability to think at a high level about product strategy and into the details of user 
experience 

  • Capable of acting as a Product Manager when needed
  • Ability to break down user stories and flows to find UX problems 

  • Ability to prototype designs (in code or using a prototyping tool such as Flinto, Framer, Principle, After Effects, etc) 

  • Proficiency (or desire to learn) Sketch as a UI tool 

  • Can bring to the table skills in interaction, visual, iconography, and most importantly, strong product thinking and problem solving
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills 

  • Passionate about great design and UX 

  • Have a go-getter entrepreneurial spirit 

  • Very detail oriented and think that every pixel is important 

  • A strong communicator, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas. 

  • Energized by a fast changing environment 

  • Positive and responsive self -starter with a good work ethic and attention to detail. 

  • Strong portfolio featuring examples of visual and interaction design work 


 

Nice to have:

  • Experience in mobile game design
  • Ability to quickly internalize new engines and game technologies
  • Strong design mentality and intuition for game mechanics and game flow
  • Passion for content, film/tv, reading is a plus
