Ring is looking for a hands-on Creative Director (Packaging) who has a proven ability to motivate those around you with your vision and dedication to excellence. You have successfully demonstrated taking business goals and turning them into inspiring world-class designs. You are a fearless design leader, someone who can inspire and influence creatives across multiple disciplines. You will be leading the design and development of Ring’s packaging, across our suite of products. You have experience working directly with vendors to produce packaging trays and dielines that meet all industry standards, and Ring’s qualitative bar. You also have experience telling a strong brand and product story on the real estate presented to you. This requires experience designing packaging for retail spaces, and understanding the best way to engage a customer from 10 feet away, 5 feet away, and one foot away. 

Responsibilities

• Lead the creative development and execution of packaging design and the unboxing experience across all Ring owned properties. Research and understanding, business, marketing and customer insights to produce best-in-class customer experience. 
• Creative leadership on the end-to-end process, develop consumer insights, wireframe designs, manage workflow and approvals, present for review, secure executive buy-in and approval. Lead though engineering and development and QA. 
• Develop relationship with suppliers, engaging in prototyping and oversee engineering. Have insight and oversight into cost, production timelines and workback schedules. 
• Lead consumer feedback studies on packaging. 
• Create concepts, sketches, graphics, and high-fidelity executions in support of, packaging, brand, and marketing campaigns.
• Oversee routine and complex duties in the preparation of printing specifications, working with vendors to verify print specifications.
• Understand and respond to performance data (metric tests, usability studies), and steer the direction of future creative designs.
• Lead and grow a team of designers and grow the capacity and the output of the retail packaging group.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in design with a strong retail design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in design, advertising, or related fields.
• Online portfolio reflecting creative and art direction expertise for campaigns that may include 2D/3D graphic design, environmental design, interactive, motion graphics, print, video or web.
• Experience with four-color printing processes, and large format printing.
• Experience with dieline creation and color, material and finish of paper products (corrugate, paper pulp, SBS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Effective communicator and storyteller with the ability to find the best approach to verbally and visually communicate an idea and articulately present it to other team members, clients, and agency partners.
• An understanding of all aspects of client-focused brand and marketing creative, including brand development, social, digital, advertising, retail/POS, media and environmental/experiential design.
• Demonstrated experience managing creative processes through external agencies, internal teams and freelancers.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to executive management.
• Proficiency in tools for design, 3D modeling and animation.
