With this focus, our Research team is responsible for shaping our understanding of the optimal digital learning experience by conducting experiments and gathering insights on the online environment’s impact on students and schools. In collaboration with our Data Science, Partnerships, Engineering, Design, and Product Management team, we design and execute rigorous experimental studies collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and publishing results. 

As our Strategic Research Advisor you will accelerate our discovery of new findings by developing and managing Research projects from start to finish with external Research partners including universities, non-profits, and government agencies. As the Strategic Research Advisor, you will work collaboratively with external Research partners to design and execute Research studies that will allow us to better understand the relationship between the digital learning experience and student outcomes. GoGuardian’s Strategic Research Advisor is someone who is passionate about creating the optimal digital learning experience, values collaboration in the Research process, and is eager to uncover the insights that exist in the data. What will I be doing?

• Designing and managing Research projects with universities, non-profits, and think tanks
• Identifying opportunities for collaboration on Research studies with external stakeholders
• Designing and executing quantitative and/or qualitative Research studies to improve our understanding of the digital learning experience 
• Analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data 
• Documenting the research process, presenting findings, and authoring Research studies to be shared internally and externally
• Conducting a meta analysis of existing literature on relevant research topics and continually staying aware of technology trends in K-12 education
• Developing and documenting processes relevant for scaling the Research departments ability to conduct Research with external partners

• Ability to easily switch between thinking creatively and analytically
• Ability to design experiments of varying types including, but not limited to: randomized control trials, quasi-experiments, between groups studies and within-group studies, and data science experiments 
• Familiarity with a variety of pedagogical practices in K-12 education

What experiences will prepare me for this role?

• You have an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Behavioral Science, Sociology, Education, Communications, Business, Computer Science)
• You have a Master’s degree in a related field
• You have a PhD/Doctorate degree in a related field (A plus!)
• You have 7 - 10 years of relevant work experience 
• You have designed experiments and conducted research through the entire research lifecycle
• You have managed multiple Research projects at once 
• You have experience conducting Research in an academic setting 
• You have managed relationships with diverse stakeholders 
• You have worked with or in schools and understand the nuances of conducting Research in a K-12 setting
• You have been exposed to a variety of learning technologies and their applications 
• You have worked with data science teams and understand how data science can be used to analyze large data sets
