We’re looking for a Fraud Specialist to serve a integral role as part of our Risk Team. The responsibilities for this role will include working across many functional areas to improve the tracking and processing of fraud claims reported by customers, improving our fraud rule accuracy, as well as assist with developing new risk models. Supporting the team in handling audit and compliance requests. This role will also be responsible for providing support to the Customer Success Team and to Dave members with regard to Visa claims processing, card issuance and declined Visa/ATM transactions. Ensures excellent claim resolution to customers while complying with established procedures. The Risk Team protects Dave members of financial harm and we need a customer-centric person with strong problem solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • We’re looking for a Fraud Specialist to serve a integral role as part of our Risk Team to protect Dave members from financial harm
  • Review suspicious account and transaction events using internal and external fraud tools, and take action in accordance with Dave’s risk policies 
  • Determine processes & procedures to ensure proper fraud mitigation
  • Interfaces with other customer success agents, members and branch personnel with regard to potential visa or ATM fraud claims and any issues with regard to the usage of Visa Debit Cards 
  • Research and analyze data to detect fraudulent activity, and develop opportunities for minimizing fraud and avoiding false positives 
  • Drive innovation throughout our account and transaction review program
  • Independently determine and recommend an appropriate course of action following fraud detection 
  • Work with Product and Engineering to develop and test fraud detection machine learning models and queues 
  • Help identify process improvements and contribute to key projects and initiatives supporting fraud prevention 
  • Remain up to date on regulatory requirements for commercial banking partners included but not limited to AML, BSA, KYC
  • Support internal and external audits, and due diligence requests 
  • Support ad-hoc projects and/or other categories, as assigned 

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years in a fraud specialist/management position for a financial institution, payment processor, fintech, or similar business conducting fraud risk management and driving fraud prevention operations
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using reporting/query tools such as Brio, MS Query, MS Access, Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, etc.), Crystal Reports or Business Objects and Falcon system/scoring 
  • 2 yrs experience detecting, analyzing, summarizing, and reporting fraud patterns
  • 1 yr experience using SQL & completing complex data analysis 
  • Experience working with banking Regulations E & CC 
  • Basic understanding of NACHA Operating Rules 
  • Basic understanding of BSA/AML principles including KYC requirements, due diligence/ enhanced due diligence
