Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 67 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As a Risk Analyst, You’ll help lead the team's efforts to protect players and Riot’s payment systems from threats and fraudulent activity. You will be master of Riot's Payments ecosystem, become intimately familiar with payment systems and data infrastructure.

You’ll rule over analysis and insights and help turn data into meaningful and actionable information for the team and stakeholders. Your natural curiosity will also make you a determined investigator, sifting through Riot's payment data looking for threats. Your natural passion for games will drive your cultural alignment and help complement excellent communications skills required to make convincing, data supported arguments necessary to drive team projects towards successful conclusions.

You are:

  • Experienced: you have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or 3+ years of related experience); XP in CNP fraud, payments, and digital goods will earn you bonus points
  • Player-focused: you understand your impact on the player experience because you're a player, too; you listen closely to the community to better understand their needs before they do and improve the overall League of Legends experience
  • Technically astute: you rapidly learn new skills, grasping complicated technical information that often leaves others lost, scared, and generally rocking in fetal position; you have an understanding of the fundamentals of object-oriented programming, proficiency in SQL in various implementations (MySQL, Vertica, and HiveQL specifically)
  • Results-driven: never satisfied, you consider anything less than surpassing your goals a total wash; you push the pace, motivating yourself and others to deliver results while consistently performing at the top of your game
  • A problem solver: when problems appear, you're the on-call fixer, cleaning up even the stickiest of situations; you look past the obvious solution, checking all sources to uncover any hidden issues lying dormant
  • A priority-focused organizer for results: you quickly identify critical projects, separating essential tasks from dreaded time-sucks; you can spot and avoid roadblocks miles ahead, which keeps you on track and focused like a laser beam; you efficiently and effectively keep projects on track by managing the right people, materials, and support needed to get the job done
  • Action oriented: you take the bull by the horns and ride the damn thing through the heart of a dragon; you turn challenges into opportunities, even without extensive planning; "too hard" means nothing to a dragon slayer like you
  • Player focused: you're a lifelong gamer who's passion for games (especially League of Legends) helps you stay focused on initiatives that make the difference to the players in and out of the game (and you get the memes)

You will:

  • Dive deep into our payments data to identify opportunities for improved risk rules and to ID emerging fraud threats
  • Have a strong aptitude for developing KPI dashboards and other reporting tools
  • Investigate fraud issues with a high degree of autonomy and integrity
  • Set ambitious goals to drive personal growth and team improvements in workflow and performance
  • Communicate seamlessly with other Riot teams to promote account and payments security and raise awareness of emerging threats using diplomacy and data supported arguments
  • Be a fearless advocate for players in the realm of payments and account security

Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
