The Strategic Technology arm of Universal Music Group's Digital Strategy division has two main roles, (1) technical due diligence and (2) strategic technology and product development. Initiatives under product development are overseen by the SVP of Business Development and include stems, high-resolution audio, and spatial audio. The Coordinator / Jr. Business Analyst will be responsible for providing administrative support for the SVP of Business Development, as well as project management, catalog research, data entry (for the purpose of preparing products), analysis, and marketing event planning. Specific tasks will include identifying candidate tracks for inclusion in product initiatives, working with labels to source prepare the tracks, analyzing available content numbers and product performance, planning around product promotional events, and assisting in demonstrations.

Job Functions:

Content Identification

  • Working with archives and labels to locate and collect assets
  • Searching lists from various archives, labels, and other information sources for potential tracks
  • Assess content market viability and potential

Commercialization Process

  • Tracking rights approval across 14 labels & business units
  • Coordinating efforts through the full production process -Audio Mixing, Metadata, Supply Chain Ingestion, and Delivery
  • Working with Universal's Mastering Studios to coordinate any necessary audio modifications
  • Entering metadata for tracks into UMG's label copy systems
  • Working with the supply chain and label teams to establish a content workflow
  • Training label staff on the new workflow
  • Interfacing with label scheduling departments
  • Interfacing with partners on product requirements
  • Assisting in content availability reports
  • Interfacing with 3rd party stakeholders (e.g. hardware companies, platforms)

Reporting and Tracking Schedules

  • Tracking content preparation schedules
  • Tracking marketing and event schedules
  • Tracking product development schedules and plans

Marketing Activations

  • Collecting assets and approvals from labels for marketing
  • Assisting in demos at industry events
  • Helping plan and staff events such as CES, SxSw, Music Biz,Midem, and internal showcases
  • Coordinating and interfacing with 3rd parties, speakers, hostsetc.
  • Coordinating marketing materials

Light Administration

  • Coordinating travel for the SVP of Business Development
  • Filing expense reports for the SVP of Business Development
  • Phones and meeting scheduling

Job Requirements:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and general knowledge of computers & the web
  • Familiarity with digital music technology and services
  • Knowledge of popular music
  • Excellent communication skills (both speaking and writing)
  • Attention to detail, and process oriented
  • Ability to learn quickly

Experience:

  • 1-2 years Music Industry experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
