About the Role:

We are a data company first and foremost, tackling complex big-data, ML, and AI challenges, and have built a world-class Data Science team to do so. We are looking for a leader to manage and grow the team. The Head of Data Science will be a strategic partner in our organization, deeply technical and an expert in solving hard data challenges, but also versed in business and how our data efforts accomplish business goals. Our ideal team member can do it all, is comfortable using the right-side and left side of their brain, loves data and is ready to take on any project in fast-moving start-up environment. You have experience managing, hiring and inspiring a team of Data Scientists. You have a bias for action and would rather see something done than perfect. You always focus on the goal and find the simplest solutions to get there. You love managing and leading.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be the leading voice for data at Sense360
• Interpret the business challenges and help the team come up with the most effective solutions. 
• Manage, inspire, and lead the Data Science team
• Recruit and continue to build the Data Science team
• Development and communication of Data Science team goals 
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives
• Assist with high severity requests or issue escalations as needed
  

Requirements:

• Ph.D. OR MS in CS, math, statistics, or other quantitative major
• 8+ years working in Data Science and/or Analytics
• 3+ years of experience managing and leading a Data Science organization
• Experience recruiting a world-class Data Science team

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Python 
• Experience with Spark or other distributed language 
• Experience with AWS or any other cloud provider 
• Strong stats background 
• ML experience in a professional environment a plus
• Experience developing production code and pipelines 
• Strong communication skills
• Experience communicating and presenting to leadership team
