About the Head of Data Engineering at Headspace:

The Headspace Data Circle is empowering the organization using deep insights that matter. We are seeking a talented and motivated leader to accelerate our efforts to drive trust, adoption and democratization of data. The Head of Data Engineering will work closely with Analytics, Infrastructure and Product teams to build systems of intelligence empowering product development while uncovering business opportunities from behavioral data. A successful candidate will be both technically strong and business savvy.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

• Lead and scale a talented team of data engineers responsible for data pipelining, collection, management, and integration
• Work with engineering teams and direct reports to ensure data integrity, quality, governance, stability, accessibility, durability, and performance
• Provide thought leadership on entire data collection, integration and storage process as well as implementation of analytics platforms
• Execute on high-value roadmaps regarding data platform infrastructure to further facilitate Data Science team's analytics efforts
• Mentor data engineers on best-practices regarding software architecture, Identity management systems and data collection

What you’ve accomplished:

• 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally 5+ years managing teams, with a proven ability to attract, develop and inspire top talent in the world of data engineering
• Expertise with Big Data platforms and engineering tools such as (Spark, S3, mParticle, Segment, GTM, etc)
• Strong experience leading and managing teams of approx. 10 data engineers
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience running and optimizing data collection and storage
• Proficient with Analytics and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Interana, Amplitude, Google Analytics, etc.
• Experience building out both batch-processing and real-time data pipelines and streaming APIs
• Close attention to detail and solid project management, prioritization and organization skills
• Proven ability to stay current in burgeoning data technologies/platforms and apply new tech where it can create uplift
• Comfortable working in heavily-collaborative environments between Engineering, Data Science, and Executive teams
