StartEngine is looking for motivated engineers, architects, and developers to join our technology team. As our Senior Architect and Developer, you will have the opportunity to jump into products and projects spanning across the entire company, from building slick front-end applications to data modeling / API design to server scalability. The technology team at StartEngine is highly agile, and focuses on creating products and features that have significant and lasting market impact. Like any high growth startup, our software systems are constantly evolving with changes in customer demands, sometimes at a very rapid pace.

Responsibilities Include

• Collaborate with the Product Team to build new products and improve existing products on an ongoing basis
• Contribute to, improve upon, and maintain our software architecture and design best practices
• Participate in and improve on team-oriented agile processes for product development and project management
• Clearly translate and communicate business needs and problems into technical requirements
• Identify and implement solutions for scalability, performance, and speed

The Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field of study
• 4-6 years architecting and developing distributed applications, preferably at an enterprise level company or similar

Your Long Term Experience

• Competent in designing REST APIs and database schemas
• Demonstrable asynchronous experience in a network context
• Webhooks experience is desired
• 4-6 years working with a modern and well-used web application development framework. Ruby on Rails is preferred but not required
• Demonstrable experience working with distributed databases (like  MongoDB), complex queries for writes, and performance-based queries for reads
• Capable with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• Able to translate business requirements into technical requirements and turn requirements into working features
• Experience working closely with a team in a startup environment
• Ability to fail fast and learn from what doesn't work
• Enjoy researching new or unfamiliar technologies and how they could benefit your current project
• Be a motivated self-starter with good time management skills
