What You’ll Do

This is not a Social Media Manager position. We are seeking an ambitious, proactive individual knows how to spot trends online and can spot a boring story from 100 miles away & avoid them at all costs.

As the Social Media Editor, you will be involved in the first and last steps of the audience process. You will be responsible for finding issues-driven stories & creating attention-grabbing, shareable headlines & images for those pieces

Secondary duties include distributing ATTN: stories to additional social platforms (Instagram, Tumblr, etc.), so an interest in various social media platforms is essential. Lastly, you will ideally have a background in content creation, thinking creatively, a love for social media, & a niche for finding story ideas.

• "Package" content with headlines, images, etc. for social distribution
• Develop actionable growth strategies to support traffic, views, and audience growth
• Schedule posts for a combination of platforms; in priority order: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
• Use social trending and tracking tools to conceive of and recommend story ideas to editorial team
• Partner with technology, video and editorial teams to increase content distribution opportunities
• Test content (headlines and images) where possible

Who You Are

• Journalism / writing / blogging experience
• The ability to think critically and act independently
• Exhibits expertise on at least one platform beyond Facebook (e.g. Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter)
• Strong attention to detail and process-oriented
• Comfort in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a space where flexibility, collaboration, creativity and fast execution are required
• You MUST be flexible working an unconventional 5-day work week & weekends when required  
• Photoshop experience and original content creation experience are a plus
