Cosmic Forces is seeking a Senior Unity Artist for console games in developed in Unity. Candidates will be judged based on the strength of their portfolio, past experience and references. Candidate must be able to work in a wide range of original and existing 3D styles. Must be able to collaborate, receive direction from multiple sources and implement direction. Must be self-motivated with strong sense of work ownership, have a good eye to maintain and collaborate on the established Art Direction. 

Required Skills:

Create and modify existing 3D and 2D assets in Unity:

  • Model new light-weight and optimized geometry in Maya
  • Layout UVs
  • Paint textures in Photoshop
  • Make efficient use of Texture Atlases
  • Generate LODs
  • Export to FBX
  • Import into Unity
  • Create Prefabs
  • Make clear and efficient use of nested prefabs

Create and modify materials in Unity:

  • Create materials using lightweight shaders that match the appropriate look and feel for the 3D surface
  • Apply the same material across multiple models, achieving a different look by use of texture atlases
  • Set-dress models into Unity scenes

Animation:

  • Animate characters and props in Maya and or Unity (basic animation, not character)
  • Configure Unity Animation Controllers using the appropriate states, triggers, and transitions
  • Tell story via Unity Timelines, with a good eye for layout, composition, and timing

Lighting in Unity:

  • Achieve the desired look and feel as directed, by using the appropriate combination of baked, mixed, and real-time lights

FX:

Create and modify existing FX using Unity, Plugins or Particle Systems

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Capable to managing a high volume of different assets
  • Be a team player. Collaborate, communicate and have a positive attitude
  • You must have the ability to stay professional and collaborative during stressful milestone deadlines 
  • Able to take direction and give direction in a positive and constructive manner 
  • Maintain the established artistic look
  • Lead art integration with Engineering and Design
  • Setup technical pipeline and guidance for internal team members and outside vendors
  • Setup specifications in the art pipeline to achieve desired frame rate for Switch, PS4, XB1 and PC.
  • Ensure that all asset are consistent with the approved art direction and built properly to integrate into our Unity project specifications such as poly count, texture sizes, and memory limitations for the intended platforms
  • Love to play and make games for our fans
  • Stay up to date on the latest tech advancements and processes related to the position

Requirements to apply:

  • Strong 3D and 2D portfolio
  • 2+ years experience with Unity
  • 2+ years experience with Maya and Photoshop
  • 3+ years of professional experience in the games industry 
  • Take proficiency test if requested
