Digital Studios is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Video Services and Operations to be responsible to serve as a hands-on expert for video related technologies and workflows across all groups creating content at UMG focused on the West Coast sites.

 

This role is responsible for running a small video team in one of our main international hubs. Aside from the work detailed below they will ensure that our workflows are consistent across hubs, SLAs are met, and our staff are trained and supported.

 

Job Functions:

  • Manage and oversee the work efforts around the video QC label management team to review priorities and workflows
  • Ensuring that files received are workable and technically compliant
  • QC of multiple product types such as short form, long form and ancillary video content
  • Supporting product setup of longform titles
  • Adding metadata to UMG's content management systems
  • Providing clear feedback and recommendations for labels and creators on QC failed videos
  • Updating Workflow Management systems to report on SLAs & KPIs
  • Supporting the Label Managers and Video QC engineers on developing tools and processes
  • Additionally, there may be opportunities for light editing work related to the digitisation of our video archive

 

Job Requirements:

Skills/Abilities:

Essential

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of video management and supervisory experience
  • Understanding and familiarity with the Video Production lifecycle, including an understanding of digital video technologies involved in filming, editing, grading and converting videos
  • Strong knowledge of video formats
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge of common technical issues, failures and challenges
  • Deep expertise in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or other video editing packages
  • Experience with file deliverables (Netflix, Amazon, iTunes etc.)
  • Experience with Content Management and Workflow tracking systems
  • Firm understanding and knowledge of all aspects of creative post (DI, editorial, color grading, etc) and master quality control
  • Expertise with media processing tools, including encoders, mixers/demuxers, automated QC tools, sub-titling/captioning tools
  • Established industry relationships with post-production & production providers, freelancers and other 3rd party vendors

 

Preferred

  • Experience with digitization workflows, especially from analogue formats
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • A passion for film, tv & music
  • Advanced Excel experience
  • Background in Digital Supply Chain distribution especially relating to delivering video content to the correct codec and xml requirements
  • A strong understanding of technical audio principles
  • An understanding of musical structure, such as, the ability to identify a chorus from a verse from an intro.
  • Experience with UK broadcast requirements and closed captioning workflows
  • Experience with Slack, Airtable, or equivalent

Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in Video QC or Post-Production

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job-related experience
