Our first XPRIZE, the $10 million Ansari XPRIZE for private spaceflight, spurred an industry and created exponential breakthroughs. Since then we have provided over $140 million in incentives through these competitions. The use of incentive competitions, or prizes, to accelerate innovation goes back over 300 years, to when the British Admiralty launched the Longitude Prize in 1714 to find a better way to navigate our seas. In the years since, several well-known innovations have resulted from incentive competitions, including canning as a form of food preservation (a competition launched by Napoleon in 1795), modern plastics (the Billiard Ball Prize, 1863) and commercial aviation (the Orteig Prize, 1919).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary 

The person in this role will be responsible for leading entire project life-cycles, from concept through production, post, review, and launch phases. 

The ideal candidate has a passion for turning complex topics into impactful storytelling, social and environmental issues, entertainment, media, science, and technology, a track record of cross-functional leadership, impeccable organizational and project management skills, a high level of accountability, has an understanding and appreciation of high production value, a knack for creative problem solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and creative team environment. 

This candidate is highly motivated and gifted when it comes to interpreting executives’ creative ideas and execution with limited time and budget. The position calls for a self-starter who has deep experience in handling multiple work streams, developing creative and strategic plans with cross-functional teams, and executing against a wide variety of creative and strategic business briefs and marketing channels. Agency experience preferred.

They also need to possess a strong creative content production background, including managing internal and external development and production partners. The role will be positioned to advise on specs, assess project needs and source product information relevant to creative exploration and execution. The ideal candidate must be a problem solver and possess extreme agility with a deep desire to keep learning and growing.

Responsibilities 

  • Work directly with the CMO to execute his strategy and vision
  • Work collaboratively with Team Leads across the Foundation to develop and execute video strategy
  • Develop content marketing strategies and campaigns to support all prizes and impact maps as well as Foundation
  • Vet and hire vendors, producers, editors, videographers, both domestic and international
  • Manage internal team and keep them motivated
  • Manage video production budget
  • Bring in projects on time and on budget
  • Manage multiple project teams and video projects simultaneously
  • Maintain and grow relationships across the Foundation
  • Good Clear Communication is key
  • Understand the digital landscape and keep a big picture view on where the industry is headed, and how best to leverage the changes as they happen
  • Build and maintain creative partnerships
  • Deep storytelling from ideation to delivery – conceive, develop and perfect the creative through the entire process
  • Manage producers, editors, videographers, animators, talent and crews, both domestic and international, to create engaging video content
  • Manage Digital Librarian/Assistant Editor
  • Music Supervisor

  • Take each project up a notch – take it that extra 5%
  • Script writing and editing
  • Conceptualizing video projects
  • Editing video projects
  • Motion graphics
  • Shoot photos and video
  • Stay current on the market – for video styles and gear, etc.
  • Collaborate across Marketing and Communications to fulfill clients’ requests
  • Produce video shoots
  • Research and develop questions for interview shoots
  • Work with the Director to conceive of video campaigns and support all prizes and impact maps as well as Foundation video needs (Visioneering)
  • Work with Director to develop strategy for how best to market the brand
  • Create key video assets – Award Videos, Launch Videos, Promotional Videos, Finalist Videos
  • Time and project management - Bring in projects on time and on budget 

Requirements 

  • 5 years of experience, including production, post-production, project management, and client relations
  • Strong writing skills 
  • Can-do attitude
  • Self-starter who can operate comfortably without a ton of oversight
  • Must be optimistic in the face of adversity
  • Someone who looks for the win-win but must possess the fortitude to say no
