In our Junior Technical Writer role, you will expand and refine a large set of creatively instructional resources. This means user manuals, technical articles, videos, and possibly more. It all depends on where your talents shine brightest.

This position, like many of its kind, requires a deep, nerdy zeal for the fine details of technology. You must love to learn, to seek out and make sense of information. But it’s also, ultimately, a teaching position, and your instruction can make the difference between a delighted user and an ex-user.

The IoT sphere is still new, and we serve a broad range of customers with levels of experience from power-user to entirely new. Both ends of that spectrum demand your passion to demystify—and a healthy measure of user empathy.

What You'll Do

• Work with our lead technical writer to create high-quality user manuals and educational videos 
• Work with outside talent to source graphics, animations, video content, etc… 
• Create educational web content for our users and our teams
• Brainstorm and build new and interesting educational strategies
• Geek out extensively on IoT security and Ring’s offerings specifically (important!)
• Move fast, think fast, and collaborate fluidly

Basic Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, instructional design, tutorial creation, or similar customer education field (text, video, and audio content all qualify)
• Ability and affinity for analyzing products and their use cases from a user’s POV

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Premiere, Illustrator, etc...
• Familiarity with TechSmith Camtasia Studio
