We are on a mission to power every property in the world, and to do that, we need to tell our story to the world. That’s why we are on the search for a talented wordsmith to serve as our Executive Writer.

As our Executive Writer, you will work hand in hand with our CEO Adam Harris and COO Richard Castle to translate our innovative product vision and award-winning company culture into clear, compelling stories that shine the spotlight on Cloudbeds in the media, to the industry, and to the wider business community. 

You will be responsible for developing and writing materials for external and internal communications, including articles, blog posts, opinion pieces, speeches, and presentations for the executive team. You will also lead a book/website project to position Cloudbeds as a thought leader in the space of technology, remote management and work culture. 

Our ideal candidate is not only a natural storyteller and master of prose, but also an adept listener and quick learner that knows how to connect the dots across broad ideas and can write skillfully from the perspective and voice of our executive team. You will work closely with the executive team and Marketing team stakeholders to ensure consistency in brand, messaging, and alignment on communications goals. 

Location: Remote (US)

What You Will Do:  

  • Draft compelling long-form content on behalf of the executive team, including but not limited to books, articles, blog posts, opinion pieces, speeches, presentations, social posts and commentary, and internal communications
  • Lead a book/website project to position Cloudbeds as a thought leader in the space of technology, remote management and company culture
  • Conduct interviews and build relationships with executive team members and any other internal/external subject matter experts to gain the necessary context and background to produce content
  • Research trends and insights on business, technology, travel and hospitality, and mainstream and consumer trends to inform direction of content and provide context 
  • Track breaking news and social conversation to respond rapidly and generate content that addresses audiences’ real-time interests 
  • Assist in crafting and/or editing quotes for press releases and/or media requests as well as social media postings for the executive team 
  • Edit and proofread written materials created by the executive team to ensure consistency and quality 
  • Manage heavy volume of writing and editing assignments on varying topics with tight deadlines
  • Coordinate between internal stakeholders such as Marketing Communications team to ensure that externally published content is delivered on time, meets brand and messaging guidelines, and fulfills content objectives and goals (e.g. PR, thought leadership)
  • Create content with global markets in mind (including LATAM, EMEA, and APAC) and coordinate with Marketing Communications team on translations to ensure a consistent flow of content to international markets
  • Be an internal steward of our brand voice and messaging

You’ll Succeed With:  

  • An intense passion for the written and spoken word — you are a voracious reader and consumer of media in addition to being a skilled writer
  • Proven ability in writing, editing, and concepting content for print, online, video, podcast or any other broadcast medium 
  • Ability to learn and channel an executive’s voice and adapt to the changing nature of the business
  • Able to write for a global audience in ways that are relatable, engaging and inspiring
  • Collaborative, articulate thinker with the ability to take creative direction and understand the big picture
  • Detailed knowledge of new media platforms, obsessed with trends
  • Calm under pressure and ability to deliver under tight deadlines
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Acute attention to detail and high proficiency in proofreading — you will spot that misplaced comma in a 100-page text
  • Relationship builder with journalistic curiosity that asks the right questions to get the deeper story
  • Positive, constructive attitude and problem-solving mindset
  • Degree in English or Journalism a plus
  • At least 5 years of experience as a professional ghostwriter and/or freelance writer
  • Experience in the book publishing industry a plus
  • Ability to work across multiple teams, departments, and geographies; overlap in work hours with the Pacific Time Zone is required 
  • Native fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or other languages is a bonus but not required
