About the Director, Content & Copy at Headspace:

As a crucial part of our mission, we’re looking for an accomplished, collaborative, and laser-focused Director of Content and Copy to join our team. The Director will report into the Managing Editor within our Content and Design team, and work in concert across the organization to ensure that the delivery of all of our written copy and content meets the standards we set internally, and reaches our audiences and users most effectively externally. The Director will own the ways we will scale the production of content and copy to meet the needs of the business.

You will efficiently manage and run the team’s production of editorial social media content, blog content, and copy across the organization — including our product content, while also maintaining a crystal clear set of creative, legal, and mission-driven standards. Additionally, you will oversee our efforts to effectively standardize and systematize our production processes. You should come with experience of working in a fast-paced creative environment, writing, producing, coordinating, and editing copy for a variety of audiences, channels, and formats.

You are already an exceptional manager, who navigates well the calendars of writers, editors, and ongoing publication. You multitask like a wizard and are well-versed in multiple kinds of content creation and methods. You take pride in managing colleagues as well as deadlines, and finding creative solutions when others get stuck. You are careful, consistent, and have a curious mind that is eager to take on challenging new projects and skills.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 5+ years of editorial or writing experience across fields such as Journalism, Publishing, Wellness and/or Technology
  • Proven excellence in collaboration, leadership and mentorship.
  • Proven track record for innovation in all core areas: coordination, production, archives, writing, and editing complemented by diplomacy, empathy and patience, along with the ability to build rapport and deliver on a creative, mission-driven vision. 
  • The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet multiple, ongoing deadlines
  • Knowledge of legal, ethical, and creative industry standards around publishing and understand when it is necessary to flag copy for additional review.
  • Ability to organize and produce a large scale production from start to finish.
  • Superhuman organizational skills — no crack is too small and nothing slips through!

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
