About the Director, Audio at Headspace:
As a crucial part of our mission, we’re looking for an accomplished, collaborative Director of Audio to join our team. The Director will report into the Managing Editor within our Content and Design team, and work in concert across the organization to ensure that the delivery of all of our audio projects and productions meet the standards we set internally, and reaches our audiences and users most effectively externally. The Director will own the ways we will scale the production of audio to meet the needs of the business.
You will efficiently manage and run the team’s production of audio across the organization — including our in-app product content (meditations and beyond), while also maintaining a crystal clear set of creative, legal, and mission-driven standards. Additionally, you will oversee our efforts to effectively standardize and scale our audio production processes. You should come with experience of working in a fast-paced audio production environment to speed everything from voice casting and coaching, to format prototyping, to content strategy.
You are an exceptional people manager who is experienced working with audio talent, script writers and sound engineers. You take pride in managing colleagues as well as deadlines, and finding creative solutions when others get stuck. You are careful, consistent, and have a curious mind that is eager to take on challenging new projects and skills.

What you’ve accomplished:
- 5+ years of audio experience across fields such as radio, audio production, music production, audio guidance or connected speaker interfaces.
- Proven excellence in collaboration, leadership and mentorship.
- Proven track record in areas such as coordination, production, sound design, scriptwriting, casting, voice coaching, editing and mixing, complemented by diplomacy, empathy and patience, along with the ability to build rapport and deliver on a creative, mission-driven vision.
- The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet multiple, ongoing deadlines
- Knowledge of legal, ethical, and creative industry standards around audio production and understand when it is necessary to flag work for additional review.
- Ability to organize and produce a large scale production from start to finish.
- Superhuman organizational skills — no crack is too small and nothing slips through!
