About the Content Director at Headspace:

As Headspace has expanded beyond our core business of guided meditation, we are producing more and different kinds of content in an effort to meaningfully connect with audiences and improve the health and happiness of the world. In addition to increasing our presence on social media and digital channels, we are making video part of our core app experience. This Content Director will strategically and thoughtfully create new digital content for the in-app experience in an effort to bring to life new verticals for the Headspace brand. 

The ideal candidate is an expert in creating world-class digital content, rooted in data. This person will be highly collaborative, detail-oriented and a strong communicator, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to maximize efforts and with our Head of Programming on strategic vision, budget tracking and resource allocation. To be successful, this Content Director should be comfortable in ambiguity, enjoy problem solving and have a POV and clear creative vision. 

Externally, this position is equivalent to a Creative Director.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • You will oversee the creation of new formats for Headspace’s own platform and beyond.
  • You will be on set, directing work with our in-house team, working with a producer.
  • You will write treatments for your new formats and socialize them with other departments in the company. You’re great at pitching, by the way.
  • You will collaborate with the product and engineering team, to make sure that the content you make has the best chance of success in the app and beyond.
  • You will hire and commission freelancer talent from your own deep rolodex to help us create seriously good content.
  • You will be data aware, and able to adapt to the signals you get from our data team.
  • You will act as showrunner looking at the big picture of all our content across one or more of our properties or modes working closely with the Head of Programming.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 8-10 years experience working in media/new media.
  • 5+ years of experience in production and/or creative direction
  • Experience with a range of digital formats and a strong portfolio of creative and innovative work.
  • Great communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and provide direction to internal and external partners.
  • Ability to strategize and create world-class content from concept to production.
  • Strong network and experience resourcing projects.

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
