Job Description

Associate Producer/Writer

At LegalZoom, content is what drives our connection to our customers. We create all kinds of content to reach people where they are-from emails to ebooks, videos to articles, collateral to webinars, and more. In creating a robust pipeline for content creation, it's important to have someone who can oversee all the elements that need to get done to ensure each piece is ready for primetime.

Our Associate Producer/Writer will be the lynchpin in the content pipeline. This talented person will have a knack for multi-tasking, be ridiculously organized, revel in a challenge, not be afraid to change direction, and have a special skill for seeing the big picture and knowing how it all fits together.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Implement content strategy/campaigns, which may include video, webinars, animated explainers, or other type of video, as well as supporting content
  • Assist senior producer and director with preproduction and production duties, which can include coordinating locations, vendors, and talent, creating simple sets
  • Organize and oversee our YouTube channel and Brightcove gallery
  • Create photo selects folders after every shoot and share with internal stakeholders
  • Manage master calendar and shoot schedule
  • Assist with video production and post-production from concept through completion
  • Keep freelance and internal contributors on track to meet their deadlines
  • Manage contracts, invoices and payments through internal systems
  • Keep track of content development budget
  • Plan, implement and communicate deadlines to contributors and stakeholders
  • Ensure contributors have what they need to meet their deadlines and if they have questions or hit roadblocks, step in and help solve their problems
  • Purchase equipment and manage inventory
  • Manage build-out of internal video studio
  • Be the last eyes on a piece of content, performing a quality control check to confirm legal and editorial requirements were met
  • Oversee technical requirements or implementation
  • Maintain how-to documentation for each content type
  • Work with internal stakeholders to track effectiveness, ROI on the content produced, and the effectiveness of a particular content strategy

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
  • 3-5 years' experience as an associate producer/writer in video or broadcast television
  • Portfolio of material
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Experience assisting with video production and post-production
  • Experience working in a content management/content collaboration system
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premier Pro, Media Encoder, Photoshop
  • Experience overseeing freelancers and staff
  • Understanding and appreciation of legal or contractual requirements
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Ability to communicate well and work collaboratively
  • Lifting/moving materials (props) when required
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive, go-to attitude
  • Legal knowledge a plus
