We are seeking a full time in-house Associate Director of Engineering, Unity to join our team. This person will be helping us build high performance Unity based applications using existing standards, conventions, and an existing product architecture. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage Unity engineers across multiple scrum teams developing features and functionality within the AofL Unity platform for deployment to Android and iOS targets
  • Coordinate with Unity engineers to define development timeframes, dependencies, and areas of risk to be considered in project planning
  • Own the software architecture and identify common features across games that can be developed into reusable components
  • Collaborate with UI/UX team leads to ensure layouts, animations, and graphical assets are efficiently integrated into application features while preserving artistic integrity and performance
  • Able to train and mentor engineers as well as research and recommend Unity related technologies for broader adoption
  • Participate in recruiting initiatives such as interviewing candidates and evaluating staffing needs
  • Expected to provide support for engineers and directly contribute to solve specific engineering problems, writing code as necessary
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Proven experience building software with Unity (games or apps), ideally that are consumer facing and content driven
  • Mobile development experience in Unity 5.x (iOS and/or Android)
  • Experience optimizing for mobile tech
  • Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle
  • Ability to quickly find creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Ability to write documented, unit testable, C# code, that is compliant with our company coding conventions and standards
  • Strong attention to detail, rigorous in self-testing code and delivering high quality work
  • Analytical thinker, capable of translating business requirements, wireframes, etc. into application architecture
  • Highly motivated, self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Familiar with the entire 2D/3D production pipeline: modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, rendering/shading.
  • Agile/Scrum experience
