Analyst - Operations Analytics
Joybird is looking for an Operations Analytics Analyst who is hungry to be an early member of a new Data & Analytics team and to make the company more data driven. As our Operations Analytics Analyst, you’ll report to the Director of Data & Analytics and be the go-to source for analytics needs for the Joybird Operations team: from Transportation & Logistics to Warehouse Operations & Inventory Positioning.
You will apply quantitative skills to answer high-level business and strategy questions and support operational initiatives.

What you'll do:
- Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions which can then be answered by data-driven analysis
- Partner with various business stakeholders to identify key factors and requirements for each project, and get buy-in for project methodology
- Complete network and transportation optimization models using supply chain optimization analysis to find the lowest cost, fastest transit times or most efficient routing for our shipments
- Understand cost drivers throughout the supply chain to identify strategic opportunities
- Develop a model to estimate the impact of a specific recommendation while controlling for factors that may introduce noise into the analysis
- Develop insights into key margin drivers to influence Joybird's pricing decisions
- Conduct big data analysis using SQL, R, Python and other software applications
- Present data with a clear point of view so that insights can be used to help drive business strategy
Example Projects:
- Strategic analysis of the delivery experience to model fulfillment options for non-standard delivery times.
- Building a nationwide carrier portfolio optimization model to determine the most efficient and profitable distribution of Joybird volume. This model drives selection of the best overall damage, cost and transit time trade-offs for all of our shipments.
- Analyzing the optimal way to handle cross border shipments into Canada
- Analyze the impact of fast deliveries vs. accurate deliveries on customer satisfaction in order to optimize delivery expectations on our website.
What we're looking for:
- You have at least 1 - 4 years of experience in an analytical/consulting role preferably with supply chain or logistics experience
- You have a degree in Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Physics, or other concentrations with heavy quantitative focus strongly preferred
- Previous experience presenting business cases to senior leadership
- Experience working within large datasets and passionate about solving complex business problems
- You possess an affinity for data, and resourcefulness in obtaining data when clean and or complete information is not available
- Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma preferred.
- Possess strong written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
- Positive, people-oriented, and enthusiastic
- Technical experience using SQL, R, Python, or other languages
