SUMMARY / ABOUT THE JOB
The Air Dominance & Strike Division is one of Anduril’s fastest growing divisions and is seeking an Aircraft MDAO Engineer to join our team. Our goal is to fundamentally reshape the way future peer to peer conflicts are fought by developing next generation collaborative combat aircraft, missiles, and the software that powers these autonomous weapons.
As Aircraft MDAO Engineer, you will work with many different disciplines to outline workflows of aircraft conceptual design and analysis tools, and ultimately link them together as an MDAO (Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization) toolset. This will enable rapid and more-informed design, analysis, and system-level trade study capabilities. The right person for this role has skills and experience in one or more disciplines in conceptual aircraft design and analysis, tool development, and MDAO. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Interface with multiple aircraft conceptual design and analysis disciplines to outline current and projected capabilities and workflows
- Identify each discipline’s tool inputs, outputs, and giver-receiver data / model workflows
- Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and recommended solutions to improve workflows
- Link toolsets in an MDAO software environment
- Run Design of Experiments (DOE’s) and Optimizations to identify where tools break, recommend solutions to “MDAO-harden” individual tools, and work with various disciplines to update them
- Strategize with Group 5 Aircraft Engineering Tools Lead on toolset roadmap, deployment on projects, and help manage the overall MDAO toolset development effort
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or higher degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, and/or Computer Science
- 4+ years of experience in one of more disciplines in conceptual aircraft design and analysis such as Configuration Design, Mass Properties, Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Performance, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), and / or GNC (Guidance, Navigation & Controls)
- Strong ability and desire to work on tool development and process workflows
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Works diligently to make continuous progress, maintains a positive attitude, is optimistic and pragmatic
- BS or higher in Aerospace Engineering
- Programming skills in higher-level languages (MATLAB, Python) in a version-controlled environment (preferably git) and comfortable with low level languages (C, C++, Fortran)
- Experience in developing and MDAO workflows and toolsets in ModelCenter, ModeFRONTIER, or related software environment
- Experience with aircraft sizing and configuration trade studies, including aerodynamic design, shaping, performance analysis, and MDAO
- Experience managing a project in a cross-IPT environment and interfacing with teams such as Air Vehicle, Cost, Survivability, Mission Systems, Operations Analysis, Airframe Structures, and Subsystems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) security clearances
US Salary Range
$124,000—$231,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
