THE COMPANY:

Beautycon Media began as a festival business three years ago and has since grown into a successful e-commerce subscription box business, while at the same time forging its way into the media space. Our goal is to create meaningful connections challenging the status quo while creating a “community” destination for all. Profiled in major outlets such as The New York Times, Fast Company, Mashable, Digiday, MTV, and Bustle as a company to watch, we are expanding quickly and strategically and are looking for entrepreneurial-minded individuals who have a proven track record of success in the start up environment to develop and oversee strategic digital initiatives that span multiple channels.

OVERVIEW:

Beautycon Media is building out its Content team and needs an Audience Development guru to help lead the way. The VP of Monetization and Audience Development will generate actionable insights from original video content produced on a weekly basis. Leverage paid media to drive engagement and learnings across multiple platforms to help build high-quality audiences in the most cost-efficient way possible. 

Ideal candidate has 8+ years experience working with paid media on social platforms and the web including but not limited to Adwords and Facebook. This person has a passion for all things media and is a regular user of Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 


  • Works with content producers to create tips, information product reviews and website reviews for use in the Beautycon Media website network (portal and eCommerce websites), email newsletter and social promotion (Key Metric: Website Visits)

  • Drive overall priorities & process for video + editorial content creation, distribution & monetization across O&O and 3rd party platforms

  • Design & implementation of standardized production playbooks to support paid & organic content creation

  • Establish KPIs and ROI measures for video & editorial content creation 

  • Responsible for audience growth strategies & execution across all distribution points

  • Work with sales & mktg to develop packages around key video franchises / benchmarks

  • Primary liaison to all key internal stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, EE, Digital & Programming

  • Optimizes all daily portal content for search engines and manages SEO Campaigns (Key Metric: Search Engine Impressions & Arrivals).

  • Initiates and maintains relationships with numerous media outlets and their websites by both monitoring their content and making frequent contribution, links, etc (Key Metric: External Inbound Links, Arrivals from Other Websites).

  • Plans, executes, and optimizes all website conversion architecture including Rapid Conversion Landing Pages, Floaters, OFIEs, OFINs and test links required to build new email subscriber relationships (Key Metric: Website to Email Conversion Rate, Email Circulation).

  • Manages agreed-upon expense budget, revenue metrics, key metrics and reports to General Manager 

  • Present weekly reports with actionable insights to channel managers and content teams

  • Analyzing interactive user metrics (e.g., referral sources, retention, page consumption, pathing, campaign response, bounce rate, demographics, video insights, etc.) to develop a deep understanding of our user base

  • Translating data from web-based systems (e.g., web analytics, CRM, and various internal and external reporting systems) into meaningful reports

  • Staying informed of new features/developments for additional data gathering opportunities

  • Supporting sales and ad operations to help craft compelling stories for use in marketing materials and then delivering compelling advertising to the right user at the right time

  • Compiling and analyzing historical data to predict potential future performance and to recommend actions

Primary Skills, Experience & Traits

 


  • 8+ years of relevant analytics work experience in a fast-paced, growing digital environment

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Expertise using Google Analytics, Adobe, and similar web reporting tools, with implementation and customization experience being a major plus

  • Experience implementing tracking and using debugging software

  • Self-starter with positive attitude

  • Working knowledge of Photoshop a big plus

  • Experience working with large datasets to identify trends and opportunities

  • Proficiency using Excel to generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports

  • YouTube Certified a plus

  • 4+ years experience with Adwords

  • Experience with YouTube analytics a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in interactive media, journalism, communications, marketing, creative writing or equivalent experience with strong skills in computing, logic and analysis.

  • Three years of relevant organic marketing experience with working knowledge of open source content management systems, search engines and related software tools.

  • Enthusiastic attitude to all parties and a deep desire to manage by the numbers.
