WE'RE LOOKING FOR VIRTUAL PRODUCTION TECHNICIANS

Magnopus was founded by a diverse team of Oscar-winning artists and technicians. We’re combining storytelling, art, and advanced technologies to create Hollywood-caliber augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality experiences in virtual production, education, entertainment, and more.  

We are expanding our work on a film production system that leverages VR/AR tech combined with high-end Hollywood gear to change the way movies are made.  The system has been in use successfully for quite some time, and we’re seeking skilled Technicians to run the system on stage while providing feedback to a team of developers and engineers.  The position is full time and is using the next-generation VR/AR tech, including custom-built hardware and software.

Responsibilities 
• Setup scenes and hardware configurations to prep for scouting and shooting
• Assist Filmmakers with getting them where they need to be with the tools they want to use
• Work with Production and 1st AD to keep the stage running and the shots flowing
• Prioritize tasks and clear communication under constantly evolving objectives
• Collaborate with a team of engineers and support staff to give feedback on hardware and software design

Must Have
• Clear communication skills and empathy to other’s needs and wants
• Comfort and confidence in changing circumstances.
• General understanding of film sets, roles, and processes
• Professional experience working with Unity, Unreal or another game engine
• General Hardware input familiarity and functionality
• Basic ability to troubleshoot problems strategically, and tactically and develop alternate approaches

Would Be Nice
• Experience with multiple programming languages, especially C#, C++, Python or JavaScript
• Experience working in VR / AR environments, especially with the hardware (VIve, Rift, including the hardware)
• Proficiency with 3D tools, e.g. 3ds Max, Maya
• Experience with Motion Capture, and animation systems like Motionbuilder (though you won’t be using it)
• Experience with A/V hardware (video playback, recorders, signal flow, audio mixers)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Experience in User-centered design processes

Software Knowledge and Other Skills
• Unity, Unreal
• Maya (or equivalent)
• Windows
