As the head of the UX/UI team, the UX/UI Lead leads a team of UX/UI Designers and Front End and Prototype Developers in designing compelling user experiences. As a part of the development team, the UX/UI Lead collaborates with creative teams, project managers, developers, and clients to understand and incorporate technical, business, and user requirements into simple, elegant product designs. 

As UX/UI Lead, you'll be assessing the programs, business needs and market landscape, and owning the creative oversight required to distill these into design requirements. By working closely with project managers, designers and engineers through all stages of the product development cycle, the UX/UI Lead helps build inspiring and intuitive features for the entire Laserfiche product suite, including our mobile, web and cloud products.

The UX/UI Lead serves as a champion for user experience and design to stakeholders throughout Laserfiche, bringing design thinking to projects and acting as a voice of UX innovation throughout the product development process, including leading discussions on topics including visual design, interaction design, content requirements, information architecture, and user research needs. The ideal candidate should balance superior creativity with technical knowledge, with superior communication skills, including the ability to foster meaningful relationships with executive, technical and business teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead in-house UI/UX designers to create innovative and appealing designs on a rapid and iterative basis, leveraging brainstorming, sketches, storyboards, user task flows, wireframes, prototypes, and the production of final assets for specific features and projects
  • Support all aspects of design, development and production, focusing on UI design and UX best practices to deliver simple solutions that resonate with customers and deliver on business objectives
  • Translate concepts, ideas and complex interactions into user flows, mockups, wireframes, interactive prototypes, customer journey maps and visual designs, then effectively communicating and championing these design directions to business and technical teams 
  • Collaborate with executive and senior management, as well as product strategy and technical teams, to define product requirements and target segments and create designs that meet them
  • Manage user research, testing, and focus groups for strategic programs, distill findings into actionable design, and lead highly interactive initiatives for user stories, scenario development, prototyping and sketching

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, interaction design, visual design, human-computer interaction or similar
  • 5-10 years of experience in interaction design and information architecture for enterprise software, including experience leading and mentoring a team
  • Solid leadership, communication and teamwork skills, including strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong visual design skills, including a portfolio displaying a firm understanding of user-centered design processes, information architecture principles and UX work on mobile and web projects
  • Knowledge of mobile app development, including a solid understanding of UX/UI best practices and conventions on Android, iOS and web
  • Ability to contribute at a high level to product strategy and vision
  • Solid technological background, including: 
  • The ability to code working prototypes in HTML, CSS and other current technologies
  • Knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping
  • A thorough understanding of Bootstrap
  • Knowledge of A/B testing platforms including Optimizely, Adobe Target, and TargetClose and in-page analytics tools including Google Analytics and Crazy-Egg
  • Proficiency with wireframing and design software, including Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
