Phunware is seeking a BigData engineer in Newport Beach, CA with hands-on experience creating, deploying and optimizing large-scale data systems.
Responsibilities:- Build resilient, high-volume production systems/architectures, and develop prototypes quickly
- Create optimized data pipelines using relevant technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Elastic Search, Kafka)
- Perform experiments and analyze results to improve the performance and quality of algorithms
- Work in an organized team oriented environment with shared responsibilities
- Work with development teams to design maintenance and support strategies
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
- At least 2 years of experience developing software in Java
- Experience with Spark, Elasticsearch, Map Reduce, Hive, HBase, Hadoop, Kafka, Impala & Cassandra preferred
- Experience with Graph technologies preferred
- Experience with one or more of the following will be an added advantage: statistical analysis, machine learning, natural language processing, predictive modeling
- Familiarity with REST API frameworks
- Responsible, organized and hard-working with excellent communication skills
- Worked on NoSQL data stores containing billion-plus records.
- Experience with information retrieval, network programming and/or developing large software systems
- Experience with cloud delivery platforms, ideally Amazon
- Experience doing Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI)
- Track record of success in a start-up or high-growth environment
