About the position:

We seek an experienced Software Engineer to help us scale our software for data management. We have a respectful and collaborative culture at Nexleaf, and we seek someone who is an enthusiastic learner, takes initiative, and is able to work effectively in a team environment.

The software engineer will play a critical role in helping us achieve scale and impact. Responsibilities include:

- Programming the backend of our web service and analytics platform using Python, Django, Python-RQ, MongoDB, and other related languages & tools to build new features and enhancements to the system 
- Building data models and work flows to make our data accessible, from setting up the data for analysis, to storing it, and displaying it or exporting it to other systems 
- Ability to build basic displays using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to be polished by frontend engineers 
- Developing API access to the data and reports available in our system 
- Improving systems architecture to handle increased load of data requests 
- Reworking existing data models and storage strategies for efficiency and speed

Education and Experience Required: 

- College degree 
- 3-5 years of backend experience with Python, Django, or related languages & tools 
- Relevant experience deploying features into production on Linux based systems 
- Previous DevOps experience or strong shell and sysadmin skills a plus
