Senior Visual Designer
Lead visual design for projects, including creating visual design concepts, coordinated color palettes, icons and graphic imagery, and best-practice visual design for usability. Create style guides. Create design assets and some presentation-layer code. Contribute to ongoing process improvement, including best practices and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead visual design work for individual projects, including creating initial design concepts and directions, iconography and graphic imagery, coordinated color palettes, and best-practice design for usability
- Create presentation-layer code for at least some of the design work
- Integrate page-performance best practices for design solutions
- Design online products
- Work with stakeholders to create optimal solutions
- Integrate research data and feedback into designs
- Ensure consistency of visual design elements and visual identity within individual pages and applications
- Communicate design rationale to stakeholders
- Work with User Experience, Product Managers, Marketing, and business stakeholders on project requirements
- Create design solutions that integrate business, Product, and User Experience requirements
- For some projects, act as the User Experience Project Lead, managing the project schedule and approvals for the User Experience team deliverables
- Prepare all visual design documents, write guidelines, and document design decisions
- Create style guides, including the integration of guidelines from interaction designers
- Provide input and support for user research and usability test plans. Apply results of research to designs.
- Ensure that user requirements are carefully balanced relative to the technical constraints and business requirements
- Create solutions designed to scale and grow over time, as the functionality and content matures and as user requirements evolve
- Provide input and support for User Experience team members pertaining to visual design
- Contribute to the development of best practice standards, deliverable standards, and process improvements
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years performing visual design for large-scale, corporate web sites and web applications
- A minimum of 2 years of B-to-B experience desired
- Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Excellent presentation-layer coding skills desired
- Strong working knowledge of Internet technologies
- Excellent visual composition skills
- Familiarity with the limits and constraints of design for the web and across different browsers
- Ability to integrate the requirements of different teams and business units and ability to negotiate to create a unified user experience
- Experience with project management, including setting schedules and delivering to those schedules
- BA/BS in Design, or equivalent experience
- Ability to provide direction, leadership, and collaboration in the creative process from conception to final production
- Extreme attention to detail and commitment to high-quality production standards
- Must be proactive and innovative
- Must be able to work in a team environment with an iterative design process
- Must also provide links to portfolio or sample work history, I.E. Git Hub.
Desired Characteristics
- Work experience in the online advertising tech industry
- Experience in graphic design, interactive design, and/or video tutorials
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
- Ability to rapidly learn and understand new systems.
- Self-starter with the ability to independently identify and act on areas of improvement.
