If you are a Systems Engineer and the words Hadoop, Kafka, and Aerospike gets you excited along with supporting one of the largest Big Data systems in the world, then we could have the right opportunity for you!  Our Infrastructure Engineering team is a central component of our Technical Operations team, whose mission is to build and operate data centers containing thousands of servers across several continents.

Among the wide-ranging responsibilities included in our operations are inventory management, monitoring services development, platform integration and management, capacity planning, global traffic management, release management, application and development support, network support, troubleshooting and automation.

A member of the Infrastructure Engineering team must be able to ask the right questions, understand the business and technical requirements of internal and external clients, and then translate those needs into actionable items for execution in conjunction with other cross-functional team members.

You will be part of a team that develops infrastructure to support a complex real-time, high volume advertising auction network, comprised of large-scale components including multiple Hadoop clusters, key-value stores, and other leading-edge technologies. 

What you will be doing:

• Ensure the operational integrity of the global infrastructure
• Interface with Development teams to ensure their systems are well designed and deployed
• Build scalable systems to enable the management of thousands of hosts
• Build and operate multi-tenant data systems such as Hadoop, Kafka, Aerospike
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
• Perform architectural review of business systems
• Enable the rapid deployment of systems through automation and standardization

What we look for:

• 5+ years of experience in a high volume 24x7 environment with 500+ servers
• 5+ years of experience scripting in Bash, Perl, or Python
• Strong Linux background, deep familiarity with related concepts
• System installs with PXE, kickstart, and Cobbler
• Motivated, self-starting individual
• Ability to use data to justify decisions
• Experience managing business-critical Hadoop clusters
• Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef and a passion for automation
• Strong knowledge of common Internet protocols (TCP, DNS, HTTP)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with revision control systems (GIT preferred)
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Comfortable collaborating and supporting a diverse team of engineers
• Ability to troubleshoot problems in complex systems
• Experience with virtualization or cloud systems

Nice to have:

• Experience with OpenStack, Kafka or AeroSpike
• Experience with Jenkins for automating tasks
• Experience working in an agile or DevOps environment
