OpenX is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to join the Infrastructure Engineering team in our Technology Operations department. The Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and managing the global production infrastructure which serves billions of Internet ad requests per day, helping publishers to monetize great content.

Our production systems include globally distributed datacenters, hundreds of gigabits of Internet bandwidth, tens of thousands of machines, hundreds of petabytes of data, and hundreds of application services. All of this to provide a real time bidding platform that processes over a trillion transactions per day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the Systems Engineering team
• Own the entire lifecycle of our hardware capacity from procurement to retirement
• Optimize our systems through capacity and performance engineering
• Evaluate and propose next generation hardware solutions to address critical system bottlenecks
• Develop and maintain automation, monitoring, tooling, and documentation
• Plan and manage capacity to support new products, seasonal traffic patterns, and the growth of our business
• Participate in an on-call rotation, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds unassisted, and some travel required

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience managing systems hardware
• 2+ years experience in a technical lead or architecture role
• Expertise in Linux and server hardware architecture and technologies
• Experience managing projects of high complexity
• Experience scripting and automating Linux systems in Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, or similar language
• Strong networking knowledge desired: routing, switching, TCP/IP
