Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering

ROLE SUMMARY:
We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer who specializes in data pipelines and large-scale data processing. This DATA ENGINEER will work in the Data Engineering Team, which is a Center of Excellence for Data Science, Data Transport and Cluster Computing at DSC. Key to success in this role will be strong curiosity and drive to learn technologies and architectures that create scalable, stable and secure data processing pipelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage our Data Infrastructure on AWS, including:
- Our Data warehouse (Redshift)
- Cluster computing resources (Apache Spark)
- Distributed messaging and streaming platforms (Apache Kafka)
- Distributed data storage (S3)
- Develop, test and optimize ETL jobs to run on cluster computing engines.
- Develop, test and optimize data processing microservices.
- Deploy and monitor production data pipelines.
- Develop, test and maintain our Data Contract layer between internal microservices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred
- Experience: 2+ years experience working with data infrastructure in several of the categories listed above.
- SQL Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Python, Scala or equivalent programming languages.
- Experience working with any of the following is a big plus: Redshift, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, S3.
- Prior experience building and architecting data pipelines to pull/push data from ERP, EPM, ESP, DMP and other enterprise systems is a big plus.
- Self-motivated, results driven, engineer who is passionate about collaboration as well as working solo.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
