Senior Network Engineer 
At Boingo – the network is the product!  We need a talented Senior Network Engineer to design, build and maintain Boingo’s International LAN/WAN networks at peak performance levels. This key position will be wholly responsible for designing and implementing complex network solutions while assuring performance levels, security, customer experience and network uptime meets/exceeds service plan definitions. This role is hands-on; proficient in all technical aspects of Wired/Wireless network architecture, diagnostics, performance measurement, troubleshooting, operation and optimization. The successful candidate will understand and thrive in an autonomous work environment with the ability to rapidly absorb complex technical requirements and resolve to creative, sound, resilient engineered solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Hands on design, install and support of network infrastructure in highly available, multi datacenter corporate IT and public-facing services environment.
  • Develop and implement network guidelines and performance standards for QoS, Security, and Network Monitoring etc.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for design, maintenance and operation of the network
  • Analysis and diagnostics of complex technical problems across all technology layers for quick resolution through the use of packet captures and other diagnostics tools.
  • Work with third-party carriers, vendors, and suppliers to resolve network issues and plan for growth.
  • Analyze network performance and ensure that the network keeps pace with growth needs.
  • Network capacity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Translating business needs and requirements into engineered solutions
  • Participation in on call support for escalations and after hours change management
  • Assist in Network Security audits, scanning, and penetration testing tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a LAN/WAN engineering role performing duties at all levels of the network services lifecycle
  • In-depth and hands on knowledge of IP routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
  • In-depth and hands on experience working with Cisco technologies (Catalyst, ASR, Nexus, ASA, WLC)
  • In-depth experience with IPv4, IPv6, VOIP, MPLS, Capwap, SSL VPN, IPSec VPN
  • 2 + years’ hands on experience with leading application load balancers (F5, Netscaler, A10)
  • 5 years’ hand on experience with virtual and physical security technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet, Juniper, iptables, etc.)
  • Senior-level experience and advanced skills in Wireless and RF technologies (wireless lan controllers, access points)
  • Experience with support tools such as network monitoring systems (Nagios, Cacti, Solarwinds, Openview, Spiceworks)
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and management tools and security hardening best practices.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure for advanced video services, cloud-based networking solutions and collocation facilities
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to visualize, articulate, and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense based on available information
  • Strong interpersonal skills through keen understanding of their own behavior and work style with tolerance of other’s styles, needs and viewpoints. Consideration for others through courtesy, respect, humility and a service oriented attitude.
  • Appreciation, understanding and ability to thrive in an autonomous work environment with the ability to work in self-organizing teams towards a common goal.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) minimum required
  • Advanced Linux experience (administration, scripting, configuration, troubleshooting)
  • Bachelor’s degree, CS preferred
