You’ll Report To: Director, Software Engineering

A typical day as a Search Platform Engineer might include:

  • Writing and optimizing interfaces for performing advanced ElasticSearch queries on a 700M+ document dataset
  • Collaborating with data scientists and engineers on improvements to data schemas for search and recommendations
  • Enhancing and maintaining applications for image rendering, search, content, and commerce functionality, with a specialization in search technology
  • Contributing to core shared services and SDKs so that feature developers can integrate services quickly and easily
  • Working closely with other developers, product, marketing, operations, and QA to gather requirements for new API resources that, when integrated, will enable powerful new features in our marketplaces

You’ll be successful if you are interested in making a direct business impact by improving search and discovery across our scalable platform.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years working with ElasticSearch or similar search database
  • 3+ years’ experience in designing, developing and delivering web applications or RESTful APIs
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of Object Oriented PHP and at least one other server-side language.  Experience with Laravel PHP, Python, and NodeJS are a plus
  • Some development experience using PostgreSQL, Couchbase, and/or Redis.  Production experience with these database technologies is highly preferred
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and how it can be leveraged within application code.  AWS experience preferred
  • An interest in modern development techniques for testing, automation, integration, and deployment
  • A passion for well-written code and innovative technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large
