ROLE SUMMARY:

This position heads our QA/Operations team. This person will be part of the Engineering Management team and will serve as a QA technology expert for the rest of the QA team and Engineering teams. They will be responsible for setting processes and frameworks in place to ensure high quality standards, consultation availability, and continued operational support of all our mission-critical systems. They will drive project scoping and delivery, will hold their team accountable for deliverables and will drive the execution and planning of the long-term vision for our QA and Operations mission. Using their management experience, they will build effective leaders in their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working collaboratively with Frontend, Backend and Data Engineering to ideate, scope, plan, estimate, coordinate, and deliver best in class QA initiatives.
  • Identifying development process bottlenecks and opportunities for continuous improvement of our software systems.
  • Mentoring the QA team in QA best practices and holding them accountable for following them.
  • Identifying and flagging risks early, working proactively to remove blockers for the team.
  • Allocating QA bandwidth based on business needs.
  • Partner with all Technology teams to come up with Quality testing schedules.
  • Communicating technical topics effectively to business partners.
  • Translating business needs and priorities for the QA team and ensuring that they are aligned with the business.
  • Attracting, hiring and retaining QA engineers and analysts.
  • Assessing skills and building career development plans for their team members.
  • Performance management and upholding deadlines/goals for team members.
  • Mentoring the team.
  • Raising the general leadership level of the team.
  • Setting actionable goals for their team, aligned with our company goals.
  • Fostering good working relationships both within their team and between the QA team and their partners.
  • Establishing efficient UAT / QA workflows.
  • Pushing continuous testing/integration/delivery best practices.
  • Working with teams to challenge and raise the bar of testing practices.
  • Individual contributions to working through test cases.
  • Establishing the relationships and process by which level 2 triage will run.
  • Communicating and championing our operational support initiatives.
  • Establishing and participating in an “Interrupts” rotation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience
    • Equivalent work experience is: 6+ years

Essential:

  • Agile SDLC philosophy
  • Test planning
  • CI/CD experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communicator.
  • Able to identify and manage conflict.
  • Able to gather and effectively deliver critical feedback.

Preferred:

  • Test automation experience (SDET)
  • CircleCI/Jenkins/Bamboo
  • Appium or other framework for testing mobile apps
  • Selenium
  • Ruby or other programming language
  • Agile training
  • SauceLabs
  • TestRail
  • Previous management experience
