Product Manager (Global Places) Los Angeles

Our Global Places data is our foundational dataset and is at the core of all of our products. As a Product Manager for Global Places you will be responsible for leading Factual’s strategy and working closely with engineering teams to build and consistently deliver the world’s best Places data. The data you deliver will be used throughout Factual’s own products and the products of our customers, reaching hundreds of millions of users.    

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prioritize, and execute product strategies that secure and grow the Global Places data business and improve the product impact and results for both internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to establish clear product requirements, effectively organize resource allocation, and deliver against roadmap deliverables.
  • Encourage agile with a small "a"; push relentlessly to get early versions of products & features out to alpha & beta testers ASAP for feedback. Understand and love that engineers want to see their work get put to use.
  • Manage the development and launch of new products, features, and enhancements.
  • Be vigilant about the success of your products, especially with regards to data quality, revenues, usage, and customer happiness. Establish and evangelize the appropriate metrics for measuring success.
  • Work closely with marketing and revenue teams to constantly optimize efforts relating to company goals.
  • Engage in the day-to-day communications with both clients and internal teams.
  • Look for opportunities to help grow Factual through product innovation.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback that will inform engineering, product, marketing, and sales decisions.
  • Write white papers, documentation, opinion pieces, blog posts, and other pragmatic and well considered contributions to the product.  
  • Evangelize Factual in the marketplace, and the overall importance of location and location-based context as a key component in strategy.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong technical background
  • End-to-end product management experience
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.  

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or another technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of three years of product development experience at a technology company.  
  • A demonstrated passion for data and large data sets, especially location and maps data.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in statistics, machine learning, and data science.
  • Knowledge of open source software design and development practices.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and relevant startup experience.
