As the MySQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for database performance and availability issues, optimization based on best practices, and proactive maintenance to ensure database systems integrity, performance, and availability levels meet business and operational needs. In this role, you will be reporting to the VP of Research & Development and collaborating with a team of engineers. Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain data structure
  • Optimize and tune MySQL performance
  • Write queries, views, and stored procedures to satisfy company reporting & analytical needs
  • Create and document database procedures and practices
  • Ensure security and data integrity of all MySQL instances
  • Frequently improve monitoring, perform database capacity and usage planning
  • Implement tools to automate database operation and monitoring
  • Perform routine, periodic and proactive maintenance
  • Backup/recovery, replication, cluster failover and disaster recovery
  • Work closely with multiple teams to understand & implement report requirements
  • Assist with 3rd party integration 

 

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in MySQL database administration and/or development eHighly proficient in all aspects of database administration, including backup/recovery/replication, clustering, advanced performance tuning, and proactive monitoring
  • Expert knowledge in maintaining, building, supporting, tuning, and monitoring production in MySQL database servers
  • Strong understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM, & replication configuration
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as Firebase, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Understanding of object oriented programming (Java, Python, C)
  • Familiarity with Web Services/SOA, XML, SOAP, JSON
  • BS in Computer Science and/or equivalent degree is desired, MBA is a plus
