Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for talented and driven mechanical design engineers to join our team dedicated to building the DAQRI Smart Helmet.

Responsibilities/Duties:

This position is open to candidates with a strong background in the mechanical design of electronic devices. The Mechanical Design Engineer will create and work within complex mechanical assemblies in SolidWorks and then execute on those designs to prototype and produce industrial-grade components and systems for the DAQRI Smart Helmet.

Qualified candidates must be highly proficient in SolidWorks and have a design portfolio that includes a wide variety of fabrication techniques, including injection molding, CNC machining and sheet metal forming/stamping. Candidates must also be capable of demonstrating proficiency in tolerance analysis, including creating tolerance stacks for their high-precision mechanical designs.

Minimum Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience designing electromechanical systems for high-volume production, in particular, miniaturized devices for mobile, handheld, or wearable applications.
• A minimum of 3 years of industry experience creating and managing large assemblies in SolidWorks
• A minimum of 1 year of experience working with either SolidWorks EPDM or Workgroup PDM
• Experience designing components for injection molding and a familiarity with resin types and material properties
• Experience designing components for CNC machining and sheet metal forming/stamping
• Hands-on experience working with a variety of shop tools and rapid prototyping equipment
• Expert at utilizing tolerance analysis techniques during the design stage to ensure assemblies meet performance criteria
• Ability to perform well under pressure and step up to meet aggressive deadlines
• An unending thirst to create the future

Nice to have:

• M.S. or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience with composites design, including carbon fiber manufacturing techniques
• Experience with cable and wire harness design and routing
• Experience with optical systems design
• Knowledgeable of EMI considerations and wireless performance optimization
• Knowledgeable of thermal management techniques and experience with thermal analysis
• Comfortable being the technical point of contact for vendors
