The Lead Engineer is the architect, chief developer and manager of Elated’s engineering team, dedicated to overseeing construction of technology for our category-defining gamified-dating app. 

You will be leading a small team of professional developers to build and support the technology of Elated, a unique new dating app that connects people and brings them closer together through fun, creative casual gameplay.

Job Responsibilities

You will be working in an agile/scrum environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop the software for our groundbreaking new dating app.  The work involves developing robust, scaleable and augmentable architecture, gameplay modules and adaptive date-matching algorithms. You will be responsible for continuous integration, testing, documentation and production deployment of significant new features for our platform.

Education Requirements

A CS or related degree is valuable, but we are open to experienced engineers who have taken a non-traditional path to their expertise.

Experience Requirements

You must have at least: 

• 3 to 5 years experience developing software for enterprise companies, technology providers, and/or funded, established startups
• 2 to 3 years experience leading and managing development teams through development, launch, testing and iteration of consumer-facing web and mobile applications

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience developing and shipping clean, secure code in a production environment to support scalability, high availability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Ability to work within a fast-paced agile/scrum methodologies where requirements will shift regularly due to user feedback
• Confident and collaborative management style that fosters strong team performance and empowers individual developers to do their best work without micromanagement
• Meticulous and timely documentation habits
• Strong skills in:
  • Scaleable server architecture
  • Algorithm development
  • Node.js
  • MongoDB
  • Python
  • Unix and scripting
  • Developing, modifying and managing APIs
  • Working with and integrating third-party frameworks
• Skills in either of these technologies are considered a major plus:
  • iOS/Swift
  • Android

You are strong self-starter, confident in your field and in your personal interactions, comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced startup environment. You are adapt quickly to shifting priorities and new development challenges, and you live to ship solid, well-tested code.

Compensation

$110,000-130,000/year

3%-5%  equity

What We’re Building

Elated is a dating and gaming app through which users engage in low-risk, high-reward interaction in a uniquely gamified communication platform, SparkFlirt™. Together, they collaborate in creative game play, mutually discovering each other’s personalities and eliminating the “introduction anxiety” so common when meeting new people. Matches are free to chat over Elated after completing at least one round of play. The result? Connections have a much higher likelihood of evolving into successful intimate relationships because they’ve already formed a strong foundation of mutual respect and authentic interaction.
