This role will be responsible for hands-on, end-to-end administration of the Company’s enterprise risk management including but not limited to documentation of existing processes and controls as well as designing and implementing new processes and controls to drive the Company to SOX compliance. This role must be able to work with minimal supervision and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based in our headquarters in Carpinteria, CA on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute financial and operational internal controls framework to address relevant risk and audit assertions
  • Perform and document risk assessment for the entire enterprise in accordance with the 2013 COSO framework
  • Document existing processes and controls, identify gaps, propose and implement process improvements
  • Prepare narratives, control matrices and flowcharts for all key processes including, but not limited to order to cash process, procure to pay process, equity and tax administration processes, financial reporting and close processes
  • Effectively communicate with and educate process owners, including non-finance individuals, on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Enterprise Risk Management
  • Drive SOX readiness project within allotted timeline
  • Prepare project updates for the senior management on quarterly basis
  • Interpret the significance of audit findings, conclude on findings and make practical recommendations
  • Assess new, or changes to existing, processes to identify financial and operational risks before launch and recommending improvements
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc requests as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience in SOX and internal audit
  • Hands on, roll-up the sleeves approach professional with extreme attention to detail and ability to drive projects to completion
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity, manage and coordinate multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting ownership and accountability of the process and deliver on commitments
  • Leadership skills (ability to take charge, confidence to interact with all levels, set objectives, drive results, and a team player) and excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of departments
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, analytical abilities and consistent follow-through, including project management skills
  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams, including legal, HR, tax, payroll, accounting and financial reporting
  • Possesses energy, enthusiasm to drive results; action oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • CPA/CA/CIA or related experience
